European Day of Languages

In my opinion, the first statement: «Learning other peoples' languages is a way of helping us to understand each other better and overcome our cultural differences.» is correct, because, first of all, there are so many different languages in the world, and in school we just learn Portuguese obviously, English, French, in and some schools Spanish. So for example if we have to talk with an Sweden person we will not be able to speak, so I think that English is one of the most spoken languages in the world because it would be hard to learn all the different languages in the world. On the issue of cultural differences I agree with that statement, because I think the different languages show us these cultural differences, for example, the Brazilians seem to be relaxed people because of the way they speak.

On the other statement, I think school isn’t doing a good job in valuing linguistic and ethnic diversity because we just learn some languages and in Portugal we don’t have many languages to choose in schools. As I said before, we just have English, French and Spanish.
